West Springfield Park & Recreation Basketball Registrations have begun! Sign up no later than Friday, November 1, 2024 to guarantee a spot on a team!

 

The West Springfield Park & Recreation Department (WSPR) is pleased to offer Recreational Winter Basketball Leagues for children! WSPR Youth Basketball Leagues provide every child with an opportunity to learn the game, improve their basketball skills, and play in semi-competitive games that are safe and FUN! Our programs serve children CURRENTLY IN Grades K-12. WSPR offers two distinct programs: 

An Instructional program for boys and girls CURRENTLY IN Kindergarten and Grades 1 & 2. Participating children receive basic basketball FUNdamentals (dribbling, passing, shooting) with a 1-hour practice/game on Sunday afternoons, beginning January 5th. Please note that there is no weekday commitment for these age groups. Participants are to bring a water bottle and wear sneakers. Uniforms will consist of a team jersey.

A Semi-Competitive program for boys and girls CURRENTLY IN Grades 3-12. Participating children will be scheduled for 1 practice a weeknight and 1 game on the weekend. See below for specific league information. Please note that practices are scheduled by volunteer coaches according to the coach's availability and the availability of the gym. A coach will contact you with more information regarding specific team practice times prior to the start of the season. Participants are to bring a water bottle and wear sneakers. Uniforms will consist of a team jersey.

If a participant is trying out for a school team, CYO or Suburban basketball team but might be interested in also playing Park & Recreation basketball, please sign up now. If the participant decides not to play Park & Recreation basketball, we can always refund your money. It is more difficult to add players after the teams have been drafted than it is to pull a player off a team.

*Player Eligibility for Boys/Girls Grades 7-12: If a participant makes a High School Varsity or Junior Varsity team before December 31st, that player shall not be eligible for the remainder of the season. Players cannot have played Varsity basketball in their senior year of eligibility.

To avoid being placed on a waitlist, REGISTRATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2024. Proof of age and residency is required for new participants. Financial Assistance(PDF, 1007KB) for registration fees is available for qualifying West Springfield residents.

Online: 

Online registration is the fastest way to register. Register by November 1, 2024 to ensure a spot on a team.

  • Click here to reach our Online Registration Site
  • Log in with your credentials. Contact the Park & Recreation Office (parkandrec@tows.org) in order to verify your username and password or to get help setting up an account.
  • Choose "Rec Basketball Leagues", click the green plus sign next to the age group of your choosing, add to cart, and check out. 
  • Continue to the payment screen. This will allow you to use a credit/debit card to pay for your programs. 
  • Check your email! Approximately 1 week prior to the start of the program, your child's coach will contact you via phone with detailed information.

 

IN-PERSON:

Another option for registration is bringing your paperwork and payment (cash/check ONLY) into the Town Hall. Visit the Park & Recreation Office Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00AM - 4:30PM. A staff member will assist you. Register by November 1, 2024 to ensure a spot on a team.

  • Complete a Recreational Basketball Leagues Registration Form(PDF, 721KB)

  • Make checks payable to "Town of West Springfield" or pay in cash. (CASH/CHECK ONLY!)

  • Check your email! The Park & Recreation Office will email you your registration confirmation. Approximately 1 week prior to the start of the program, your child's coach will contact you via phone with detailed information.

 

DROP BOX:

Using the White Drop Box located on the median outside of the Municipal Office Building is another option for Registration. Register by November 1, 2024 to ensure a spot on a team.

  • Complete a Recreational Basketball Leagues Registration Form(PDF, 721KB)
  • Make checks payable to "Town of West Springfield"
  • Write "Park and Recreation Department" on the front of a blank envelope
  • Place in the White Drop Box located outside of the Municipal Office Building at 26 Central St.
  • Check your email! The Park & Recreation Office will email you your registration confirmation. Approximately 1 week prior to the start of the program, your child's coach will contact you via phone with detailed information.
