West Springfield to Celebrate 250 Years with Mural Unveiling and Reception

West Springfield, MA (September 29, 2024) – The Red Thread Network is proud to announce a special reception on Thursday, October 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., to unveil a stunning mural created by local artist Jen Dorgan. The event will take place in the Mayor’s Office located at 26 Central Street, West Springfield and is designed to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Town’s incorporation.

The mural, meticulously designed by Dorgan, captures the essence of West Springfield through vibrant depictions of its most cherished landmarks. Attendees will not only have the opportunity to view this remarkable piece of art but will also be able to engage with Jen Dorgan herself, learning about her creative process and the inspiration behind her work.

“We are excited to bring the community together to commemorate this significant milestone,” said a representative from the Red Thread Network. “This mural serves as a beautiful reminder of our history and the importance of supporting local artists.”

Guests will enjoy light refreshments while mingling and discussing the impact of art in the community. This event is not just a celebration of the mural; it is also an extension of the Red Thread Network’s mission to promote the arts in West Springfield. Since its inception with the Terriers around Town fiberglass art project, the organization has endeavored to provide art education opportunities for the youth, evident in its sponsorship of art classes at the Park & Rec department.

Everyone in the community is invited to join this festive occasion as we honor the past and inspire future generations through the arts.
