COVID-19 Information & Updates

Town Hall, Senior Center and the Library are closed to the public until further notice.

The West Springfield Police Department and Fire Department lobby's are closed to the public for non-emergencies.

Please call the business line to any department regarding Town business as will be doing our best to assist you by phone or via email.

West Springfield Park and Recreation Department

COVID-19 Update as of April 6, 2020

As we navigate through these uncertain times together as a community, the Park and Recreation Department is working closely with Mayor Reichelt’s Office, the Public Health Department, the School Department, the Central Maintenance Department as well with our Police Department.  

In order to safeguard our community and slow the spread of COVID-19, we are making the following modifications in our usage of facilities, programs, and activity schedules. 

Mittineague Park 

  • At this time, you can still enjoy time outdoors at Mittineague Park for passive use such as walking, jogging, biking, or leisure time outdoors for individuals or families.  Social distancing is still required, and group gatherings are prohibited. The gates into Mittineague Park will remain closed until further notice for vehicle traffic.

  • Parking is located off of Park Drive, or Fife Lane.  Additional parking lots will be open on Fife Lane (near the greenhouse)

  • Pavilion reservations are suspended.

  •  


Facilities/Playgrounds/Play Equipment

  • All athletic fields are closed until further notice.

  • All basketball courts closed until further notice. 

  • Skate Park at Cooks Playground is closed.

  • All tennis courts closed until further notice.

  • All Town playgrounds and swings are closed.

  • Easter Egg Hunt - April 11th - Cancelled

  • Fishing Derby - April 18th - Cancelled

Summer Camp/Summer Programs

  • March 28th - Registration date: Postponed  - We are monitoring the situation daily. As of right now, more information will be released on or around May 4, 2020. 

Spring Sports

  • T-Ball/Baseball/Softball - Standby: Parents, please check your email for a survey to be completed by April 17, 2020.

  • Lacrosse - Suspended Until Further Notice

  • Torpedoes Swim - Suspended Until Further Notice

  • Roots Spring Soccer - Suspended Until Further Notice

  • Youth Cheerleading Clinic - Cancelled

  • Touch Football - Cancelled

  • Adult Volleyball League - Cancelled

  • Aerobics/Yoga Summer Session - Cancelled

  • Terrier’s Around Town Art Classes (March/April) - Cancelled

  • Babysitter’s Training Course (April 4th) - Cancelled

  • Altamont Town Museum Tour (April 4th) - Cancelled

  • DCR Town Forestry Event at Morgan Rd. Pavilion - Cancelled

  • Yankee Stadium Bus Trip (May 9th) - Cancelled

  • Bronx Zoo Bus Trip (May 16th) - Cancelled

  • Garden Club/Green House - Open - Following strict social distancing.

  • Garden Plots 

    •  April 13, 2020 ~ Open registration begins on a first-come, first-served basis. 

    • April 20, 2020 ~ Garden season OPEN (with consideration of weather and soil condition). Planting can begin.
