West Springfield Town Pools 2020 Season Canceled

As COVID-19 continues to evolve and change the way we go about everyday life, the West Springfield Park and Recreation Department has been faced with challenges concerning summer programming.  Most recently, Park and Recreation Director Victoria Connor, Mayor Reichelt, and Public Health Director Jeanne Galloway discussed in length the 2020 opening of Town Pools; Alice Corson Pool (Main Street Pool), and Memorial Pool. This conversation centered around the health and the safety of pool users while following public health guidelines outlined by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Park and Recreation administrative team has been working with the aquatics staff over the past few weeks to determine a viable plan that would allow us to open the pools while implementing all of the social distancing guidelines and ensure patron safety.  Unfortunately, after weighing all of the guidelines by the state and public health officials we cannot meet the minimum requirements and will need to keep our pools closed for this summer.

We are saddened that we are not able to meet such a town tradition but the safety of our families and staff must be the priority. Stay the course, stay healthy and stay calm,  we will be back next summer better than ever.

Sincerely,

West Springfield Park and Recreation Department
