The West Springfield Park and Recreation Department, along with the West Springfield Police Department, is pleased to offer women ages 13+ the Rape Aggression Defense course as an introduction to basic self-defense skills*. Through this course women will:
- Learn basic self-defense skills
- Learn escape and avoidance strategies
- Discover correct offensive and defensive postures
- Learn defensive techniques with simulated attacks
- Explore violence prevention
- Explore victim abuse

*Please bring water bottle, snack, sneakers, and comfortable clothing

Option 1: Register with us- Stop by the Park and Recreation Department with a filled out Self-Defense Registration Form, birth certificate/proof of residency (for new participants), and form of payment. We'll take care of the rest!
Option 2: Register online- Can't make it to the office? Don't worry! Click on our online registration link to fill out everything online! New user? click here. Proof of household residency (a license or utility bill with current address on it) and proof of age (ID or birth certificate for children) are required for NEW households, so please submit copies to the Park and Recreation Office after your registration and account creation are complete.
Option 3: Mail in your documents- If you'd rather fill out paperwork and send it to us, that works too! Please send in the Self-Defense Registration Form, copy of a birth certificate/proof of residency (for new participants), and a check made out to Town of West Springfield. Send it to us at:
