SPORT CLINICS

Sport Clinics will be small group offerings (no more than 10) that will focus on fundamental skills and no-contact drills while adhering to the State social distancing guidelines. Games and scrimmages are currently not permitted.  Masks are required but can be removed during drills in which 6 feet of separation is maintained.

VOLLEYBALL CLINIC

This Volleyball Clinic is for children ENTERING grades 5-9 in September 2020 and is held in the West Springfield High School Gym. The Director is Chelsea Barnicle, WSHS Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach, former Varsity Boys Coach, and Physical Education and Health Teacher at WSHS. Coach Barnicle played volleyball for four years at Springfield College and has over 15 seasons of coaching experience with both boys and girls volleyball.  A new sport for most, the fundamentals of volleyball will be highlighted so that each learner can be successful! All members of the staff have tremendous knowledge and experience to share with each participant. Through a positive learning environment, each participant will be exposed to tactics and skills such as perfecting a spike, block, and attack, while learning teamwork and how to be successful on offense and defense. Masks are required but can be removed during drills in which 6 feet of separation is maintained.

SOCCER CLINIC

Our Soccer Clinic is for children ENTERING Grades 1-9 in September 2020 and is held at West Springfield High School Clark Field. This Clinic is directed by Erin Venneri who is a teacher at West Springfield High School. Erin has played soccer her entire life including while she was a student at Westfield State University. She has also coached soccer at a variety of levels and has been instructing soccer since 2006 with the Park & Recreation Dept.  All staff have been carefully selected and trained, which include High School/College Stand-Out players.  The clinic structure allows for just the right mix of learning through hard work and fun to accomplish our ultimate goal of a valued and cherished, memorable experience. Masks are required but can be removed during drills in which 6 feet of separation is maintained. Enrollment Limit:  1 session per child.

BASKETBALL CLINIC

This Basketball Clinic is for children ENTERING Grades 1-9 in September 2020 and is held at the West Springfield High School Gym. The Director is Belinda McDonnell, who has been successful stressing skills and fun for athletes for the last 17 years. Belinda is a former high school basketball coach and now a basketball official.  Emphasis is on offensive and defensive skills. Clinic motto:  To teach the fundamental and technical approach of being “The most complete basketball player possible”. Masks are required but can be removed during drills in which 6 feet of separation is maintained.  Enrollment Limit:  1 session per child.

FIELD HOCKEY CLINIC

This field hockey clinic is for children ENTERING Grades 7-12 in September 2020 and is held at the West Springfield High School Clark Field. The basic objective of this High School level clinic is to expose those who have previously played field hockey, regardless of their ability, to techniques and tactics to improve their fundamental skills of stick work, dribble, dodges, tackles, and offense/defense teamwork.  Sign up for this amazing opportunity to be instructed by Coach Ann Simons (West Springfield High School Hall of Fame Inductee and First Field Hockey Varsity Coach to reach 500 wins) and her very talented coaching staff for some pre-season tune up on the fundamentals of field hockey. Masks are required but can be removed during drills in which 6 feet of separation is maintained.
