The West Springfield Park and Recreation Department is pleased to offer classes in fencing.
Instructed by Taro Yamashita, coach at Riverside Fencing Club.
Classes:
YOUTH/CADET FOIL: This class is for those fencers with some prior experience in foil. Students must have completed the introductory course or have equivalent experience. This course focuses on the development of new tactics and techniques, and the mastery of familiar ones.

INTRODUCTION TO FENCING: An active, fun, "jump right in" approach to learning the Olympic sport of fencing. This course progresses quickly from basic movement to tactical exchanges of offense and defense, with a strong emphasis on technique underpinning all actions. This course assumes no prior knowledge of the sport, but upon completion of the sport, you will have a wonderful appreciation for both the athletic and intellectual sides of this modern sport with ancient roots.
