Community Resources: Supporting Families Impacted by the Potential End of SNAP Benefits

As our community faces uncertainty surrounding the future of SNAP benefits, West Springfield is committed to connecting residents with resources that ensure no family goes without nutritious food or vital support. Below are programs, local initiatives, and organizations ready to assist.

Healthy Incentives Program (HIP)

If you currently receive SNAP benefits—even with as little as $1 remaining on your card—you can continue to earn extra funds through the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP).
HIP provides monthly incentives (based on household size) to purchase fresh produce from farmers’ markets, farm stands, mobile markets, and CSAs across Massachusetts.

How to Help

If you or your business are able to contribute, consider supporting organizations working tirelessly to meet community needs:

  • The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts – Donate or volunteer at foodbankwma.org

  • Rachel’s Table of Western MA – Collecting and delivering food to 65 agencies across the region

  • Springfield Rescue Mission – Providing meals, clothing, and shelter for those in need

  • Gardening the Community – Offering fresh produce and volunteer opportunities in Springfield

  • United Way of Pioneer Valley – Operating community pantries and micro-pantries throughout the region

Every act of kindness matters—donating food, volunteering your time, or spreading the word helps ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.

Together, We Can Make a Difference

The Town of West Springfield thanks our community partners and residents for their compassion and commitment to supporting one another. Whether you need help or want to help, resources are available.
