Baseball

Teams will be formed according to the grade the child is currently in for school year 2022-2023. To avoid being placed on a waitlist, registrations must be received by Friday, March 29, 2024. See below for specific league information and how to register.

Kindergarten:

  • Play at Fausey Field
  • Coaches pitch
  • Games are 2 nights a week
    • Games could take place any weeknight (M-F) at 6:00 PM
  • Practices on Saturdays for 1.5 hours (times picked by coach)
  • Season begins end of April, goes until mid June (around when school gets out)
  • No Playoffs
  • Bats, balls, and helmets are provided for teams to use
  • Child will receive shirt and hat
  • Parents to provide glove, water bottle with child’s name on it, any bottoms (shorts or sweats), and sneakers/cleats.
    • Cleats are recommended (can use soccer cleats)
  • Details are subject to change based on the number of teams created and weather conditions

Grade 1:

  • Play at Fausey Field
  • Pitching machine, (during season, kids pitching will be introduced)
  • Games are 2 nights a week
    • Games could take place any weeknight (M-F) at 6:00 PM
  • Practices on Saturdays for 1.5 hours (times picked by coach)
  • Season begins end of April, goes until mid June (around when school gets out)
  • No Playoffs
  • Bats, balls, and helmets are provided for teams to use
  • Child will receive team shirt and hat
  • Parents to provide glove, any bottoms (shorts or sweats), and sneakers/cleats.
    • Cleats are recommended (can use soccer cleats)
  • Details are subject to change based on the number of teams created and weather conditions

Grade 2:

  • Play at Fausey Field
  • Kids pitch
  • Games are 2 nights a week
    • Games could take place any weeknight (M-F) at 6:00 PM
  • Practices on Saturdays for 1.5 hours (times picked by coach)
  • Season begins end of April and goes until mid June (around when school gets out)
  • No Playoffs – Round Robin Tournament
  • Bats, balls, and helmets are provided for teams to use
  • Child will receive team shirt, hat, gray pants, black socks
  • Parents to provide glove, water bottle with child’s name on it, cleats
    • If parents choose to buy child their own pants, please get gray
  • Details are subject to change based on number of teams created and weather conditions

Grades 3 & 4:

  • Play at Mittineague Field #1 or #2 (60ft diamond)
  • Kids pitch
  • Games are 2 nights a week
    • Games on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6:00 PM
  • Practices on Saturdays for 1.5 hours (times picked by coach)
  • Season begins end of April and goes until mid June (around when school gets out)
  • Playoffs (this is a competitive league)
    • In order to play in playoffs, participants must come to 50% of games
  • Bats, balls, and helmets are provided for teams to use
  • Child will receive team shirt, hat, gray pants, black socks
  • Parents to provide glove, water bottle with child’s name on it, cleats
    • If parents choose to buy child their own pants, please get gray
  • Details are subject to change based on number of teams created and weather conditions

Grades 5 & 6:

  • Play at Cooks or Memorial Field (75ft diamond)
  • Kids pitch
  • Games are 2 nights a week
    • Games will take place on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday at 6:00 PM
  • Practices are 1.5 hours on Saturdays (times picked by coach)
  • Season begins end of April and goes until mid June (around when school gets out)
  • Playoffs (this is a competitive league)
    •  In order to play in playoffs, participants must come to 50% of games
  • Bats, balls, and helmets are provided for teams to use
  • Child will receive team shirt, hat, gray pants, black socks
  • Parents to provide glove, water bottle with child’s name on it, cleats
    • If parents choose to buy child their own pants, please get gray
  • Details are subject to change based on number of teams created and weather conditions

Grades 7-9:

  • Travelling Required
  • Kids pitch
  • Teams may play with another local Park & Recreation Dept. League
  • Commitment of 3x per week with games and practices
    • Schedules may vary to accommodate for other towns and their coaches
  • Games could take place any weekday or weekend
  • Season begins beginning of May and goes until beginning of August
  • Playoffs (this is a competitive league)
    • In order to play in playoffs, participants must play in at least 5 regular season games
  • Bats, balls, and helmets are provided for teams to use
  • Child will receive team shirt, hat, gray pants, black socks
  • Parents to provide glove, water bottle with child’s name on it, cleats
    • If parents choose to buy child their own pants, please get gray
  • Details are subject to change based on number of teams created and weather conditions

ONLINE:

Online:

Online registration is the fastest way to register. Register by March 29th to ensure a spot on a team!

  • Click here to reach our Online Registration Site
  • Log in with your credentials. Contact the Park & Recreation Office (parkandrec@tows.org) in order to verify your username and password or to get help setting up an account.
  • Choose "Baseball/Softball Leagues", pick the activity you are interested in, add to cart, and check out.
  • Continue to the payment screen. This will allow you to use a credit/debit card to pay for your programs.
  • Check your email! Approximately 1 week prior to the start of the program, your child's coach will contact you via phone with detailed information.

 

IN-PERSON:

In-Person

Another option for registration is bringing your paperwork and payment (cash/check ONLY) into the Town Hall. Visit the Park & Recreation Office Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00AM - 4:30PM. A staff member will assist you. Register by March 29th to ensure a spot on a team!

  • Complete a 2024 Baseball, Softball & T-Ball Registration Form(PDF, 477KB)

  • Make checks payable to "Town of West Springfield" or pay in cash. (CASH/CHECK ONLY!)

  • Check your email! The Park & Recreation Office will email you your registration confirmation. Approximately 1 week prior to the start of the program,  your child's coach will contact you via phone with detailed information.

 

DROP BOX:

Using the White Drop Box located on the median outside of the Municipal Office Building is another option for Registration. Register by March 29th to ensure a spot on a team!

  • Make checks payable to "Town of West Springfield"
  • Write "Park and Recreation Department" on the front of a blank envelope
  • Place in the White Drop Box located outside of the Municipal Office Building at 26 Central St.
