Youth Cheerleading

The West Springfield Park & Recreation Department, along with the West Side Youth & High School Cheer Associations, is pleased to announce the Fall Youth Cheer Program! The cheer program is a fun and developmental program for children ENTERING Grades 3-8 in September 2023. The focus is to teach cheer, chants, technique, motions, jumps and tumbling to cheerleaders (new & returning).

Practices will be held on Tuesday & Thursday evenings beginning July 11, 2023 thru late October at the times listed below. Practices will be held outside on Fausey School Side Field (beginning 7/11/23) and then will move indoors to the West Springfield Middle School (beginning 9/5/23). It is important that all participants attend practice to benefit the squad's progress. Cheerleaders will cheer at all West Side Wolverines Home & Away Football Games on weekend (schedule TBD) and showcase their skills.

Participants are to wear sneakers, athletic clothing, and pack plenty of water as there will be no water on site when practicing outdoors. Please apply sunscreen and bug spray prior to practices held outdoors.

6/20   Pee Wee Uniform Measuring Night (fundraiser money & uniform balance due)

6/21   Junior Uniform Measuring Night (fundraiser money & uniform balance due)

6/22  Senior Uniform Measuring Night (fundraiser money & uniform balance due)

7/11   Practices Begin Outdoors at Fausey Field

9/5    Practices Move Indoors at Middle School

 

Below is a list of items EVERY cheerleader will be REQUIRED to have at the start of the season. These uniform expenses are separate from the registration fee and can be offset in part or in whole by participating in the cheer fundraiser. A percentage of each item your cheerleader sells will be credited towards their uniform costs.

*RETURNING CHEERLEADERS - sneakers, boy shorts, and socks from the previous season are acceptable if they are in good condition and still fit. All other items listed above will be required due to style changes.

All fundraiser money is due on uniform measuring night. Any remaining balance for the cost of the uniform must be paid in full on the same evening.

ONLINE:

Online

Online registration is the fastest way to register. Register by May 19, 2023 to ensure a spot on a team!

  • Click here to reach our Online Registration Site
  • Log in with your credentials. Contact the Park & Recreation Office (parkandrec@tows.org) in order to verify your username and password or to get help setting up an account.
  • Choose "Cheerleading", pick the activity you are interested in, add to cart, and check out. 
  • Continue to the payment screen. This will allow you to use a credit/debit card to pay for your programs. 
  • Check your email! Approximately 1 week prior to the start of the program, an email will be sent to you with detailed information. 

IN-PERSON:

In-Person

Another option for registration is bringing your paperwork and payment (cash/check ONLY) into the Town Hall. Visit the Park & Recreation Office Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00AM - 4:00PM. A staff member will assist you. Register by March 19, 2023 to ensure a spot on a team!

  • Complete a 2023 Cheerleading Registration Form(PDF, 1MB)

  • Make checks payable to "Town of West Springfield" or pay in cash. (CASH/CHECK ONLY!)

  • Check your email! The Park & Recreation Office will email you your registration confirmation. Approximately 1 week prior to the start

DROP BOX:

Using the White Drop Box located on the median outside of the Municipal Office Building is another option for Registration. Register by May 19, 2023 to ensure a spot on a team!

  • Complete a 2023 Cheerleading Registration Form(PDF, 1MB)
  • Make checks payable to "Town of West Springfield"
  • Write "Park and Recreation Department" on the front of a blank envelope
  • Place in the White Drop Box located outside of the Municipal Office Building at 26 Central St.
  • Check your email! The Park & Recreation Office will email you your registration confirmation. Approximately 1 week prior to the start of the program, an email will be sent to you with detailed information.

MAIL-IN:
