MANDATORY WATER USE RESTRICTIONS

As of today, September 19th, the Town of West Springfield has implemented a mandatory Level 2 Water Use Restriction. These restrictions will remain in effect until the drought level for the Connecticut River Valley Region changes.

Why the Restriction?

This is a required measure in response to the Level 2 drought declaration by the Secretary of Energy & Environmental Affairs, as recommended by the Drought Management Task Force.

Who is Affected?

These restrictions apply to all customers who receive drinking water from the Town of West Springfield. Residents with private wells are not subject to the restrictions but are strongly encouraged to conserve water.

What is Prohibited?

All non-essential outdoor water use is prohibited, including:

  • Irrigation of lawns via sprinklers or automatic systems.

  • Washing vehicles for noncommercial purposes.

What is Still Allowed?

Essential water use is still permitted, such as:

  • Use for health or public safety reasons.

  • Watering of ornamental and flower gardens with a handheld hose or watering can.

  • Food production and the maintenance of livestock.

  • Irrigation of recreational fields and public parks is restricted to before 9:00 AM and after 5:00 PM.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us conserve water during this time!
