The Town of West Springfield is moving forward with the design, permitting, and construction of the second phase of an extension of the CT Riverwalk and Bikeway.
For more information on the bikeway, check out our Parks & Recreation page (here).
The proposed 0.6-mile segment will begin at the intersection of Ashley Avenue and Wayside Avenue and travel along the base of the Connecticut River flood control levee before ending at Riverdale Street (U.S. Route 5), see Figure 1 below.
The main multi-use bike path will be a ten-foot-wide paved trail with a paved parking area that provides direct access to the bike path. Other project components will include accessible exercise equipment, a bike share facility, informational signage, and seating areas. The project goal is to enhance riverfront recreation by creating an inviting, safe, and available environment for users.
