2024 West Springfield Arts Council Grants Awarded

The West Springfield Arts Council is pleased to announce they have awarded grants for 23 events and programs for 2024.

The Arts Council members considered each of the 30 proposals submitted and determined that 16 of the applicants successfully met the funding criteria established by the Mass Cultural Council.

The mission of the West Springfield Arts Council is to enrich the cultural life of the West Springfield community.  Each year, cultural grants help to support a wide array of programs, including concerts, exhibits, festivals, short-term artists residencies, school performances, workshops and lectures.

2024 West Springfield Arts Council Calendar of Events & Programs:

  • January 1 through December 31 ~ Cancer House of Hope Restorative Movement & Music

  • January 1 through December 31 (online programs) ~ Hilltown Families Suggest 

  • January 8 through March 25 ~ Art With Amanda, West Springfield Boys & Girls Club

  • February 29 ~ Tight Pants: A Theater Thursday Reading, Silverthorne Theater Company, Inc.

  • March 16 ~ Equinox and Solstice Arts & Meditation Mini-Retreat Series with Dori Dittmer, West Springfield Public Library

  • April 29  (1:30 pm) ~ Name That TV Theme with Richard Plasse, West Springfield Senior Center

  • April 29 (5 pm) ~ Painting Seascapes Inspired by Winslow Homer: Maintaining Habitats with Gregory Maichack, West Springfield Public Library

  • May 1 ~ Bring Back Musician Dave Ruch / Create a Little Library, Memorial School and John Ashley School

  • May 4 ~ Music Performance by Piper-Hopkins Band, Irish Cultural Center

  • May 10 ~ Music Concert by The Jazz Bones with David Neill, Grace Lutheran Church

  • May 23 to May 26 ~ Afternoon of Brass #3, Mechanics Hall & Old South Church

  • May 1 to August 30 ~ The Stockbridge Sinfonia: Intergenerational Community Orchestra of the Berkshires, Zion Lutheran Church

The West Springfield Arts Council, a local agency, is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. 

The Mass Cultural Council allocated the West Springfield Arts Council $24,900 for its FY24 grants budget.

Arts Council members include Joanne Burke, Anthony Cignoli, Diane Doe, Janet Eckert, Donna Laconti, and Patricia Murphy.  Eileen Chapman, Director of the West Springfield Public Library is the West Springfield Arts Council Town Liaison.
