Mittineague Park Athletic Court Improvement Project

Athletic Court sample plan

The Town of West Springfield is proud to announce that the work on the Mittineague Park Athletic Court Project is complete. This project began in June 2020 with the demo of the old tennis court, batting cage, and basketball court to make way for a new and improved athletic court complex.

The project, totaling approximately $575,000, was made possible by a grant from the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development and from Mass Marketing Partnership Grants. Funding was secured by Senator James T. Welch, Representative Michael Finn, and in partnership with Mayor William C. Reichelt. The project management team is Park and Recreation Director Victoria Connor and Central Maintenance Director Scott Moore. The project was designed by Berkshire Design Group, Inc. and the primary contractor for the court improvements is Vermont Recreational Surfacing & Fencing, Inc.

The Athletic Court Improvement Project includes:

  • New Tennis Court/Street Hockey Court
  • New Basketball Court
  • New Batting Cage
  • 4 New Pickleball Courts
  • New Four-square Court
  • Upgraded LED Court Lighting and Control Panel
  • New Picnic Tables, Benches, and Trash receptacles
  • Rotary Pavilion - repainting and upgrading to LED lighting
  • Security Cameras for the entire facility

As this project moves along, the West Springfield Park and Recreation Department will keep you posted on the progress. We can’t wait to see the final results.
