Sibley Avenue Sidewalk Expansion

This work is expected to be a continuation of the recently completed sidewalk design on Dewey Street, which terminated the sidewalk on the north side of the intersection with Sibley Avenue. The proposed sidewalk will infill the remaining pedestrian gap between the neighborhoods along Dewey Street to the sidewalk network on Westfield Street (Route 20). The construction will take place on the west side of Sibley Avenue. This project is part of the Town’s Complete Streets Prioritization Plan and is a joint effort with MassDOT as part of their Complete Streets Funding Program.

Speed bumps are also slated to be added onto the road to comply with safety standards, as well as several crosswalks with rectangular rapid-flashing beacons for safety. Manholes will be readjusted and unpaved areas are to be loamed and seeded.
